ICCR Scholarships for studying in India

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi offers around 22-25 scholarship slots per annum to Namibian students for studying in India in various degree programmes and disciplines. These Scholarship covers course from undergraduate to Ph.D. levels in all streams except Medicine. Courses in the field of Indian Classical Music, Dance, Ayurveda and Yoga are also covered in the scheme. Priority may be given to candidates applying for higher studies (Post Graduate, M.Phil and PhD courses). All these scholarships are fully sponsored by the Government of India, which includes return economy class air tickets, gratis visa, course fee, boarding and lodging etc. as per ICCR's guidelines.

Presently majority of ICCR sponsored students are concentrated in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Pune, Ahmadabad in Universities and their affiliated colleges including in Osmania University, University of Hyderabad, Bangalore University, Punjab University, University of Pune, Gujrat University, Gujrat Technological University etc. Detailed list of universities where ICCR students are currently studying, is available on the ICCR website at http://www.iccr.gov.in/content/africa-scholarships . This will help the prospective students to select their desired college / university.

Applications from meritorious Namibian nationals are invited for the ICCR scholarships. The application form and detailed guidelines are available on ICCR's website at http://www.iccr.gov.in/content/africa-scholarships . Due to the paucity of time, it is requested that application form may please be sent to the High Commission of India, 97, National Mandela Avenue by 25 January 2017. Students presently studying in a university in Namibia, should forward their application forms through their university.

ICCR HQs office receives a host of queries, requests from foreign students regarding various issues pertaining to their stipend, HRAs, medical problems etc. There are also queries w.r.to the admission methodology, hostel issues etc. In order to streamline the grievances redressal mechanism for ICCR sponsored foreign students a Helpline e-mail id: studenthelpline.iccr@gov.in has been created address the grievances of such students. This Helpline is exclusively meant for students who wish to apply under various ICCR scholarship schemes, live students and the alumni.
